Man of Steel was released in June 2013. It’s one of those rare blockbuster movies I allowed myself to get super excited for. I’m not the biggest Superman fan, but I like the character and was interested to see what a modern take on him would look like. I didn’t have particularly high expectations, however I admittedly did go into it with some ideas of what would make for a great movie. Super powered people punching each other through buildings was high on that list, but it wasn’t the the most important thing. I left the theater needing to talk about it with people who had seen it. I didn’t know if I liked it or not. That’s never really happened to me before and I needed to hear what others thought. I couldn’t even put my finger on what I liked or didn’t like, I just knew that both things were true for me.
Here it is, more than six months later and I finally called in the big guns – someone I consider to be an expert on the character of Superman. So ladies and gentleman please join me in introducing our latest guest on the show . . . Nick Day! Just a heads up. We have such a great conversation that it causes us to go over the half hour mark, and honestly it still wasn’t enough time! Also we’re trying something new for this episode to see how it feels. For the first time since starting the show, we’re not keeping it spoiler free. We talk Man of Steel with zero regard given to whether you’ve seen it or not.
